Choose Victory Over Victimhood

Personality over principle…that’s where a large swath of the electorate has landed on the not as far left side of American politics. I see cracks in the veneer of this movement, but it needs to be ripped from the American body politic to truly be able to move forward. Because my nature is to not join movements of people I find no common cause with, I haven’t saddled up to this personality over principle garbage. Let me explain.

Since the escalator ride in 2015 that acted as a lobotomy for many Americans, I’ve seen a slide toward a different kind of currency being made valuable on what I thought was the political right. That currency is victimhood. I see people hitching their souls to a man in whom they place all of their aspirations. If they aspire to be victims, this man is their gateway to the new (slightly) right grift.

I saw through this vacuous movement in 2015 and 2016. I saw through this movement during the time of the new Nebuchadnezzar figure in the White House. I saw through the victimhood grift when he left office in shame, a broken covid tyrant caught up in a mail ballot mess of his own funding by way of the CARES Act. Unlike most on the ‘right?’ side of the political spectrum, I wasn’t seduced by the functionally Godless new progressive populism filth that has so pervaded a portion of the electorate. When a certain failed politician throws God into his teleprompter reading sessions, I want to vomit. God will not be mocked.

Instead of a movement oriented on things that are timeless, like truth, hard work, integrity, charity, and honesty, we’ve been enmeshed in a overgrown web of discontentment, hatred, spite, and contempt for all that is good and true. This new not so left movement sees themselves in the culturally degenerate figure they lift up as their political savior. This figure has never been faithful to his family or to his employees. They see that as a positive as it requires no introspection, no repentance, and no humility. As a nation, we used to value men who could admit when they were wrong and we lifted them up when they fixed that wrong. That is now seen as a sign of weakness.

As the 2024 Iowa caucus draws near, I take heart in being part of a campaign that is the exact opposite in disposition to the failed former executive’s campaign. The staff members on my team aren’t degenerate reprobates, but instead they’re serious and mission focused individuals, set on helping the best elected executive in the country in his effort to help steer this country away from the precipice we’re teetering on at this present time. 

Right now, we have a massive chance to make effectual change in this country. That would necessarily mean we would discard the rank progressive populism taking over a certain segment of the American right. We need to trade that unprincipled mess in for sane, liberty minded, anti corporatist focused, small government conservatism. 

There is precisely one man running with the policy and personnel chops who could bring about the change we need. Ron DeSantis is that man. He’s also the first candidate in generations who you could point your children toward and say that he and his family could be real roll models for what America needs to strive toward. Decent, morally upright family life is almost foreign in our country, but that is what Ron has. Casey DeSantis would be the very best First Lady in our history, in my opinion. I don’t say that just because I know her, either. I say that because she’s her husband’s best advocate and his first sounding board. That gives me great comfort. Their three little ones are pretty great, too. 

If you understand what I’m conveying, join me. The Iowa Caucus is a week away. Let’s help turn this nation in peril around. Choose victory over victimhood.

 

I Don’t Apologize

 I Don’t Apologize. 

I was at the Iowa State Fair all day Saturday, August 12th. I was overheard by a reporter calling the cult around the former president degenerates, regarding an airplane banner being towed through the sky above the fairgrounds. I stand by my words.  Raheem Kassem, a foreign national, seems to think I care what he thinks. Alex Bruesewitz, a paid grifter consultant, seems to think I care what he thinks. I don’t. 

I stand by my statement. The only part of the record I’ll correct is that I do all of my activism as a volunteer. I take no money. I knock doors, make calls, and help in any manner I can. I know people in the Iowa’s House and Senate. I know people in the Never Back Down PAC. I know people in the DeSantis campaign. Everyone of them I’ve met have been genuinely decent people.

I’ve been heavily involved in politics on a grassroots level for my whole time here in Iowa. I’ve seen our efforts start to move this state in a better direction. The last 18 months have been a huge victory in this state that had long suffered under a regime of corporatist hacks and social progressives. We aren’t where we need to be, but we’re no longer running head long in the wrong direction. I credit our governor, Kim Reynolds, for pushing back against the federal government when they pushed for her to issue stay at home orders during the federal covid tyranny of 2020. After 6 weeks, she recognized the errors of their thinking. We had youth sports in the summer of 2020, before anyone else in the US. 

I traveled extensively in 2020 and early 2021. Iowa was the most free of any of the states I traveled to and through, including Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. I was glad to be back home to iowa every time I left. 

I have never supported the former one term president. I saw his economic interventionism coming. I didn’t see 2020 coming, though. We were governed from DC for the last 10 months of his term by the medical industrial complex. The former president gave gave the nation over to Anthony Fauci. Previous to the worst management decision in world history, he governed as dyed in the wool Keynesian, pushing the non government/government central bank to expand our money supply at rates never before seen, to keep interest rates artificially low so saving was dissuaded and spending beyond means through cheap loans was encouraged, thereby creating a bubble that burst 18 months after he signed that disastrous CARES Act. That bill was the single most damaging piece of legislation ever signed in our history. Ask Thomas Massie about that legislation and our former president’s reaction to his objections. 

States, like California, were bailed out. People were paid not to work. Supply chains shut down worldwide. The massive amount of new dollars had nothing to buy after inventories were diminished. That’s what we’re paying for now. Too many dollars chasing too few goods.

This same guy who lost by his own doing in 2020, to a potted plant of a man, had the temerity to come back to my state at a dinner in front of a few thousand Republicans at the of July and tout his corporate welfare payments to farmers and his infatuation for ethanol production. The former president said nothing about the disaster that he left in his wake that allowed the forces behind Joe Biden to take over. 

 

When the RNC and our former president knew about a push to harvest ballots in certain states, no counter effort was put in place. The party and the former president gave up that ground, instead choosing to peddle grievance and “release the kraken” nonsense. Instead of looking inward to see where they had failed, that former president and his merry band of degenerates(I said it again) chose to fundraise off of the backs of baby boomers to “stop the steal” instead of looking at what they did wrong to lead to the mess that was the election of 2020. I believe there was malfeasance, funded by the CARES Act, that went on. That’s been going on in large cities for a very long time. Again, the RNC and the former president had no preemptive plan to deal with it. 

This was all happening while the former president also plowed forward with a planned transfer of wealth from taxpayers to big pharma, called Warp Speed. That will go down as one of the most evil decisions in world history. We’re still coming to grips with that evil decision. 

I say all of that to say this. I watched every leader in states and at the federal level over the last 8 years, since the former president rode down his escalator at a building he financed with funds from our societal enemies. I saw a few good ones, like my governor. I saw one great one: Ron DeSantis. I saw a guy who admitted his mistakes when he made them. I saw a guy who changed course when better data became available. I saw a guy who made his state a destination for people seeking freedom.

It was then I noticed Governor DeSantis’s pivot toward fighting back against the enemies of truth in the education, banking, and financial systems. He brought in Jimmy Patronis to help guide Florida financially. They divested from ESG companies. They fought Disney when Disney sought to make an issues of Florida’s proposed plan to protect young children from the religion of gender ideology being pushed in government schools. 

DeSantis fired his surgeon general when that guy pimped mask policies against his administration’s policies, in favor of Dr Joseph Ladapo. Dr Ladapo is the only righteous public health official in government anywhere in the country today. After initially promoting the covid quasi therapeutics being peddled as vaccines, when the data started coming in, Florida became the only state to start recommending against the shots. Contrast that to the former president giving presidential commendations to the evil cabal of people involved in Warp Speed as one of his last acts in office. 

In combination with Florida’s Attorney General, Governor DeSantis has landed the only real blows for justice against the evil that has become the cadre of Soros backed district and state attorneys. His removal of two pro criminal prosecutors is one of the very few righteous deeds in the nation in the fight against violent crime, in total contrast to the First Step Act signed by the former president after a certain influencer waved her ample posterior in his face a few times. 

The paid grifters currently propping up the former president’s less than energetic personal campaign,  many of which live in Florida because of the Governor, were effusive in their praise of Governor DeSantis…until they got paid not to be. Three days before the midterm 2022 elections, I saw it. I’ve been watching and studying these people since 2015. They never change. They’re transactional quasi populists with no coherent worldview. Worldview is destiny.

Now, we have freaks like Laura Loomer, Steven Cheung, the Dilley losers, the two I mentioned at the top, and a whole host of other world class degenerates making things up to smear one of the only righteous families in American political life. I think Ron DeSantis and his wife, Casey, are a mirror being held up to our country and people in the cult don’t want to look at their own reflection because it says something bad about themselves. Strong marriages and strong families aren’t the norm now and can be intimidating for people with empty souls. I believe that’s why Laura Loomer accuses Casey of not going through a cancer battle. I believe that’s why they’re obsessed by physical appearances and clothes. I believe that’s why they make things up about the personal lives of this couple.

Ron and Casey love each other. That’s plain to see. When you meet them, they’re in sync. Spend any time around them and you figure out that it’s 100% real. They’re good parents. They support one another and they believe the same things about life, family, and country. As the Bible says, they’re equally yoked, moving in the same direction. They believe in being servants. Leadership comes through service. 

I don’t have children. I do, however, have a nephew who I would do anything for, up to and including laying down my own life. I have friends who have many children. I see a nation that is quickly spirally toward utter moral depravity. I don’t want to leave this nation on the path it currently is traveling for the sake of our coming generation. That path, on the cultural front, did not change or even slow down while our former president was in office. He would sometimes use inflammatory rhetoric to placate his fans, but then he would let his leftwing cabinet members actually set policy, controverting his rhetoric. we got all of the blow back with none of the policy victoires. 

Now, do I think everyone who voted for the former president once, or even twice, is a bad person? No. Most people vote defensively against the other side. I do, however, think that the former president’s inner circle and his outer organization are some of the worst of people I’ve ever seen. They deny all reality to prop up a man who is so pride filled, he still touts warp speed as his greatest accomplishment. He’s willing to destroy the man who governs the state he chose to move to. Make it make sense?

In closing, I won’t back down. Donald Trump must lose the primary for our nation to have any shot at a new birth of freedom. Our best choice is Ron DeSantis. His record of service is something we haven’t seen in a presidential candidate in generations. He’s not running to be somebody. He’s running to do the work need to help turn our country back from the precipice of decline we’re teetering on right now.

Today, November 8th, 2016, should be marked as a new national day of reflection. On this day, a new president will be elected. Normally, I would have a rooting interest in this day. Today, I don't. Today marks a day of profound disgust for me. Disgust with the fact that the two major political parties and the majority of voters from one and the smallest percentage plurality of voters in over 4 decades from the other saw fit to nominate the two worst candidates in the history of this nation. Frankly(inside joke), if you would have told me we would have two candidates in 2016 who's sole purpose is to make Barrack Obama look better than he is, I would have told you that you were insane. That exact scenario has happened. My confidence in the America people has suffered greatly this election cycle.

Let's do a bit of a premortem postmortem, if you will. First, Hillary Clinton is the worst Democrat to seek office since the last one. Donald Trump is first Republican to make Richard Nixon look good. Clinton has ties to awful world governments. Trump has funded her after her ties were exposed. He even said she was a great Secretary of State after the failures of Benghazi.

I think the vast majority of the blame for Hillary rests on the Democrat party. She is who the Democrat establishment is. She and her husband have been the measuring stick for the Democrat party for years. Nothing more needs to be said as this is who the Democrats are.

The blame for the cesspool of awfulness that is Donald Trump rests solely at the feet of a useless and feckless Republican Party. Under the leadership of Reince Priebus, this party has taken more governorships, state legislatures, and the majority in both the US House and the Senate. What does this nation have to show for it? Absolutely nothing. We still have out of control spending. The best evidence was the latest Continuing Resolution vote several weeks ago. Obama has only had to veto 12 bills in nearly 8 years. He should have had to veto more than that in the first 6 months of 2015. The level of abject awfulness and fecklessness of this party has never been matched. See this July's convention just as a confirmation of this fact. Conservative voices were crushed. It is clear that people like me have no place in this party. The slobbering hordes of insane people shouting to vote for Trump or we all die does nothing to smooth over my righteous indignation at this party.

Donald Trump started courting conservative organizations with donations a few years ago and crafted a message to fit this willfully ignorant mass of voters on the right in this nation. The rise of the AltRight(AltReich is actually a more fitting term) is proof positive of Trump's appeal to the lowest dregs of our society. We've even come to the point where clickbait, made up news is now the most credible source for info for the slobbering horde of true Trumpcult believers. Alex Jones and Infowars are seen as sources worthy of citation now.

I hate to cite this oft used comparison, but there are shades of 1932-1933 Germany popping up all over this nation. Masses thinking that one man can fix all the ills of our nation. People buying into a personality cult. If you combine one candidate who is like the first truly fascist progressive to hold office at 1600 Pennsylvania, in one Woodrow Wilson, and the George Wallace run in 1968, you have the makings of this presidential election. Except now, there is no elder statesman to step in and win the presidency.

Our best hope for this government is to throw off the constructs that have been placed on us by the current corrupt two party system. We must get back to a civil discourse and work towards smaller government. This should be the first goal of any person seeking higher office. Reign in the out of control government and let liberty reign across this nation. Freedom must be the rallying cry. Short of these goals, I will not support anyone running for any office, whether it be county, state, or federal office, from here on out.

Enough!

As many of you may, or may not know, my life has been changed greatly over the last year. Much of this has been due to my church and the people I've met through this church. My friends have had a great effect on me. I see the world as a place to serve others, rather than only myself. I have found joy where none existed before. God is always good. One thing that has greatly increased in me is my sense of the amazing differences God bestowed upon each one of us. No one is the same and there are some differences that God intended us to respect. First and foremost of those is the respect a man should have toward a woman(any woman).

A little background before I go any further. I have never been one to have many female friends. That has changed over the past year. The ladies in my church are great. Several I consider to be good friends. This has changed my perspective, mainly because many of these women are godly and respectful. They honor God and respect the word of God. When you see ladies like this in everyday life, a new respect for women is developed.

I think some blame can be placed for the moral sewer we are in right at the feet of the feminist movement over the past 50 years, downplaying the inherent differences between men and women. Men have gone from cherishing women to competing with them. I don't think this is the way God intended us to live. Before you decry me as a misogynist, I believe, as the civil law says, all people are equal before that law. Also, before you get mad, realize that I am advocating that men honor women and women respect men. Both sides have much to work on because our culture has muddled what it is to be a godly man and a godly woman to the point that this aspect of life is almost unrecognizable. Boys need to be raised to be godly men and girls need to be raised to be godly women, and until we get back there, this will continue. It's taken me over thirty years of life to realize this.

Now, to the meat of my message. I am tired of people who, for many years and decades, have hammered the left(rightly so, I might add) for being anti family and anti Christian and anti morality and now have gone all in for Donald Trump because they are afraid of the bogeywoman Democrat running for president. I know Hillary Clinton is a disaster and she will likely be an enemy of the church. Ask anyone who knows me and they can tell you how much I did to try to prevent the scenario we're facing right now. Nearly 10,000 miles traveled and thousands of doors knocked on will attest to that point too. I've been in this fight for quite some time.

Fast forward to today and people I once respected and looked to for moral guidance have left the Christian movement high and dry. People like Franklin Graham, Dr. James Dobson, and Tony Perkins have flushed their ability to speak to issues of morality and biblical sexuality down the drain. How are we supposed to be able to advocate for marriage being a forever promise between God and our prospective spouse when people the same people who told us that for years are now covering for a man who trades in his wives when they get too old, like a wealthy man does with his cars? Michael Farris, who has been instrumental in the homeschool movement and was a founding member of the "Moral Majority" in the 1980's said this,

 "The premise of the meeting in 1980 was that only candidates that reflected a biblical worldview and good character would gain our support.

Today, a candidate whose worldview is greed and whose god is his appetites (Philippians 3) is being tacitly endorsed by this throng." 

I couldn't agree more with what Mr. Farris said. The Christian right has become what they railed against for so many years.

When people, who have made it their business and their mission to speak up for traditional values, throw their credibility away for political expediency, we know they have bought into what Satan peddles. No one is righteous before God, but we must try to be. Giving in to a disgusting man, like Donald Trump, because of a fear of his opponent shows a stunning lack of faith in God. A phrase my pastor used several months ago keeps coming back. So many people are trying to "put God in a box".

On October 7th, when I first saw the piece about Trump's hot mic comments regarding how he treats women, I told some friends of mine, but I wouldn't even send the article to my female friends. I did send it to their dad and let him know what I thought so that he could inform them, but I wasn't going to subject them to that kind of filth. I couldn't bring myself to do that. Fast forward to just last week and a piece by Nancy French in the Washington Post,

"Republicans who have lamented the Clintonian proclivity to malign women are now defending the same activities because … well, they idolize power or their own strategic cleverness. Trump, like the preacher, is too important to abandon. We have become what we said we despised."

I was in tears by the end of this piece. I want nothing to do with a movement or a party that will excuse one vile and awful person just because the other might be worse. I can't do it. I have screwed up many times in my life and I've paid a price for doing so. Relationships have been harmed. I was on the wrong path. I've found my way back, thanks to God working through so many good people and lots of personal reflection and prayer. I don't want to go back to the path that isn't from God's word.

Shortly after reading that piece, Nancy's husband, David French, released this piece in National Review,

"I distinctly remember the first time I saw a picture of my then-seven-year-old daughter’s face in a gas chamber. It was the evening of September 17, 2015. I had just posted a short item to the Corner calling out notorious Trump ally Ann Coulter for aping the white-nationalist language and rhetoric of the so-called alt-right. Within minutes, the tweets came flooding in. My youngest daughter is African American, adopted from Ethiopia, and in alt-right circles that’s an unforgivable sin. It’s called “race-cucking” or “raising the enemy.”"

David French and his wife, Nancy, adopted a child from Ethiopia. He was a subject of scorn and ridicule for this because a sizable minority of Trump supporters, Trump's cult, if you will, think this is disgusting. We have to push back against this type thinking. Enough is enough.


As I read an email from a friend of mine last night, her work and her words rang true. She is burdened for two young ladies in the community she is staying in who have an abusive and immoral father. She's trying to combat what so many "evangelical" leaders are now excusing as locker room talk. She is reaching out to young women in a different country, trying to help them overcome what society has become. She, through the Holy Spirit working through her, is doing what we all need to do. We need to readjust our focus from a purely political and worldly focus to one of reaching the lost for Christ and then helping them to walk the path laid out for us in the word of God. This friend has reminded me of that calling and I think we all need a reminder, from time to time.

Stop making up excuses for evil! Stop making up excuses for fearing man! Fear God and speak the truth in love! Jesus still saves and God will still be in control on November 9th, just as He is right now.

A National Nightmare

In one month, our national nightmare will be codified by the vote of people who don't have the best interests of the nation at heart. The 2016 presidential election has been a hot mess(or as a Senator from my home state of Nebraska described, a dumpster fire) for the better part of a year now, but mark October 7th , 2016 as the day the Trump campaign died. I won't post links to the articles that quoted or even showed the video of Donald Trump from 2005 because I have too much respect for my female friends. Suffice it to say, what Trump said 11 years ago is the real Donald Trump. Those wishing he was a better person or could possibly act "presidential" will be waiting until they die or until Jesus comes back, which ever comes first. I pray for the latter daily.

The Trump campaign has forever damaged the ability of the current Republican party to speak to issues that many of us hold dear. I'm a small government type when it comes to political philosphy. The GOP is so far from being a small government party, they are happy being the "we'll die from debt slightly slower than the other guys" party now. In areas of morality, the GOP has also abdicated their place as the party of morals, once and for all.

As someone who led a life away from church and from the truly Christian lifestyle for many years and recently found my way back, I can honestly say that I understand why so many people are eschewing the Church, nationally. When people like Robert Jeffress and Dr. James Dobson make excuses for the behavior of Donald Trump, why choose to be apart of a religion that endorses the same thing as the world endorses?

Christians are called to be separated from the world in our ways. If we are not willing to stand against the national disgrace that is Donald Trump, what will we be willing to stand against? I know Hillary is bad. We've all known that for the better part of 30 years. Why then, did Christians allow someone like Donald Trump to gain the nomination to oppose the wretched woman? It's almost like some of us went from state to state sounding the alarm that a Donald Trump nomination would result in Hillary Clinton being elected president. Oh, wait. Some of us actually did do that.

While a chorus of "I told you so's" is highly warranted, I am now going to choose to drop to my knees and ask God for His mercy. Our nation surely doesn't deserve it, especially since our leaders and wannabe leaders now say marriage is a nebulous concept to be defined by the parties choosing to define it, men aren't men and women aren't women(opposing God's design), and babies aren't babies until some crazy group like Planned Parenthood says they are babies.

Don't try to tell me that "I should think about the cabinet and the Supreme Court" with regard to Trump. He has shown himself to not have the ability to listen to wise counsel. He has surrounded himself with people who are not conservative. His most trusted advisor is his daughter. She is a big government progressive with views more closely aligned with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama than with the late Antonin Scalia or Senator Mike Lee.

Anyone, and I mean anyone, who has accepted Jesus as He is and believes that He is the way, the truth and the life, must turn from the current major party choices for president. Some will practice situational ethics and say that one(or the other) is better than the other. That is wrong. Both must be soundly rejected. One will win, but the winner must not have a mandate to anything other than sit in the Oval Office.

On a more personal note, I've never had many female friends because of the businesses I worked for in the past were heavily male dominated, but I have become friends with several of the most amazing ladies I've ever met over the past year. If anyone, and I mean anyone, said what Trump has said about women toward one of my friends, my sister or my mom, I'd do a lot more than just wring my hands. I'd do everything I could to make sure that person was called out for the digusting human he was. I surely wouldn't vote for that person. What would you do if someone used language like Trump has used and directed it toward your daughter, your wife, or your sister?

Sara Gonzales, a writer at RedState.com, summed up the current mess like this:

Let’s get one thing straight.  As terrible a person as Bill Clinton is, Bill Clinton is not running for president.  Bill Clinton’s name is not on the ballot anywhere.  If someone wants to have a conversation about Hillary Clinton’s own personal treatment and degradation of women, let’s have the conversation.  That could actually be a fruitful discussion.

But if we are going to fault a woman for simply being married to someone who turned out to be a bad man, we are opening the door to all the judgment the left has been placing on us for years.  We are hypocrites, we are misogynists, we are simply holier-than-thou-jerks.

We cannot in good conscience go around touting the sanctity of marriage and the importance of marriage vows, and then turn around and judge a woman for staying in a marriage, for whatever reason. We cannot assign blame to Hillary Clinton for her husband’s indiscretions.

In fact, criticizing Hillary for staying married to Bill BECAUSE of his treatment of women, is only inadvertently admitting that this kind of behavior towards women is wrong.  So bringing it up to minimize Donald Trump’s behavior is even more ridiculous and short-sighted.

Bill Clinton should not even come up when discussing Donald Trump’s behavior.  He’s irrelevant to this conversation.  If something is wrong, it is wrong.  Period.  At least have the courage and moral decency to call it what it is without the excuse that someone else’s spouse is worse.

Finally, if you want to disagree, give me your best shot. Tell me where I'm wrong. Just don't use the Bible or Christian values to make your case, because that would be heresy and I won't put up with it. Please, comment below.

Separate Yourself

Today, as I sat in church, the gravity of our place in history hit me right between the eyes.

Never before has the United States of America faced such a dim and horrible choice as what sits before us in this election season. That is why I'm here to offer a word of hope. Before you deride me, know this; I believe Christians should be involved in government and should actively seek office at all levels of government.

This is where my message of hope comes in. As it currently stands, there are no candidates for president worthy of a Bible believing Christian's vote. I believe a vote is an endorsement of what a candidate brings to the table. We are left with wicked and vile candidates. Christians should choose None of the Above. Instead, Christians must start living everyday for Jesus, just like it might be our last day on earth and what we did that day would have a lasting effect on who made it to heaven, because it just might.

Be understanding to the person waiting on you in the store or at a restaurant. They might just need someone to offer a word of encouragement. Be patient with those around you. Offer a helping hand. Pray unceasingly.

In the way of activism, I believe we must never stop speaking publicly to the truths put forward in the Bible. When worldly and godless people deride you, step up your speaking, don't back down. When civil government threatens to push back the teachings of the word of God, be prepared to offer up a message of love(not squishy, emotional love, but love of truth in Jesus). Don't be afraid of what may be said about you. Be consistent in your message. Don't be worried that you may offend someone. That person who takes offense to your words is likely the person who needs to hear the message the most.

Too many times, as Christians, we've decided that being kind is being what ever the world wants us to be so as to not offend anyone. We must stop this way of thinking. Being kind involves being firm in our reliance on God's plan even when it runs contrary to what the prevailing culture says is the way to go.

What I'm trying to get across is our need to take the message of Jesus to the world while living in a way that isn't of the world. We must be separated from the culture of vileness and wickedness. We must be willing to walk the narrow path even when we are told we aren't cool or hip. Just because some people have decided to replace God with anger, pride or envy, we must resist the temptation to do so. Be firm in your reliance on God.

Finally, pray for our nation.

The Way Forward

After the serious trouncing the Trump camp received in Wisconsin, the Donald lashed out in a disgusting and worse-than-childish statement posted to his website and disseminated by all of the major media outlets. His language was crude and the statement was poorly written, leading me to believe that he wrote it himself. Contrast his poor behavior to the speech that Ted Cruz gave after his Wisconsin win. It was concise and positive. Ted struck a tone of unity. The party is coming to him, albeit begrudgingly. I find this to be quite satisfying.

The way that this country can move forward is to look to our founding principles and apply them. Ted Cruz is the only candidate actually proposing to roll back the size and scope of the federal government. Implementation of the Cruz tax plan would result in economic growth the likes of which this country hasn't seen in years. The Cruz tax plan would also take away the majority of the K Street lobbyists' power. Without an ability to carve out tax loopholes, they would be made useless, for all intents and purposes. The Cruz flat tax would also effectively eliminate the need for the IRS.

Obamacare will only be abolished and replaced with free market solutions under a Cruz administration. By decoupling health insurance from employers, thereby making it portable, and then tearing down mandates and onerous state by state insurance rules, the cost would drop because competition would explode. These fat cat insurance companies would actually have to work for your business. Novel concept. Another reform being proposed is increased availability of Healthcare Savings Accounts(HSAs). This would allow a person to carry a catastrophic policy and then shop around for the best deal on normal, everyday medical procedures like office visits and simple tests. Empower the actual end user and costs would drop dramatically.

The Cruz plan for border security is an actual plan. You can read the whole thing by clicking here to go to the website, tedcruz.org . Ted has been working on this issue for years. He is not a newcomer to fighting illegal immigration and he won't be flexible like one New York lefty running on the Republican side this year. He actually knows that border security IS national security.

Ted Cruz's plan to fix our military is just as impressive. The Navy and Air Force need to be streamlined and strengthened. The Army needs more soldiers and the Marine Corps just needs to be unleashed when called upon. Ted's ideas for restructuring the rules of engagement are also a needed change. No longer should Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen or Marines have to call a superior officer to be able to defend themselves or terminate the enemy. The whole purpose of the military is to kill the bad guys and break their stuff. It's high time they be allowed to do that when force is needed. Once the objective is completed, we need to go home. No more nation building where there aren't nations to be built.

All of the above pales in comparison to the restoration of Constitutional liberty that would happen under a Cruz presidency. People of peaceful faiths would no longer walk on egg shells when exercising their inherent rights. Abolition of the federal department of Education would be a monumental step toward allowing states the ability to determine their own paths on education. School choice will be, nay, must be the central civil rights issue of the coming century. Leftist schools are resulting in dumbed down automatons that can't think or reason or live independently. I truly believe that homeschool and parochial school parents shouldn't be made to pay taxes to support schools they don't use. This practice is the epitome of taxation without representation and it needs to stop. Without federal mandates, these battles could be more easily waged at the state and local level. "Educational opportunity thrives on choice, ingenuity, and diversity; the Department of Education squelches all three. Largely created as an outgrowth of Lyndon B. Johnson’s Great Society, the Department of Education has existed in its current form since 1980. Despite its stated aim to bring equal access to all, it has failed to close the gap between low-income communities and other communities, and instead has led to one-size-fits-all solutions imposed on millions of students with differing educational needs. Eliminating the Department of Education not only restores the states’ constitutional power and saves taxpayers billions of dollars, it returns decision-making to parents and local communities, and liberates students and teachers from a failed top-down approach. The growing federal role in education spurred by the Education Department has led to perverse mandates such as Common Core and counterproductive laws such as No Child Left Behind.

We should repeal every word of Common Core. And, as President, I will direct the Secretary of Education to immediately end the federal government’s mandates that seek to force states to adopt this failed attempt at a universal curriculum.

Even more broadly, we need to get the federal government out of education altogether. The Department of Education has the third largest discretionary budget in the federal government, and it provides 10 percent of funding for K-12 education. Yet, with that 10 percent share, it imposes significant requirements on states and schools, forcing them to submit to federal bureaucrats. Education has traditionally been a state matter; the people closest to students know them best – parents and teachers know far more than Washington bureaucrats – and we are already witnessing remarkable reforms by state and local governments to increase school choice and resist Common Core standards. We need to restore parent and student choice and remove federal barriers to children’s success.

A Cruz Administration will eliminate the programs in the Department of Education that are wasteful, ineffective, and fail to achieve better student outcomes. We will perform a careful review of remaining programs to assess how best to return those responsibilities to state and local communities.

The lion’s share of K-12 funding will be block granted to the states, including Title I funding and the Individuals with Disabilities Education program, while the Indian Education program and Federal Impact Aid will be transferred to existing departments. Pell Grants will also remain intact and can be transferred to the Treasury Department. This will result in higher quality education, more tailored to local needs, at a lower cost.

The D.C. Public School Funding and the Opportunity Scholarship Program will persist because Washington D.C. is under the federal purview of Congress and it is constitutionally appropriate for those programs to continue to be overseen at a federal level. But those programs can be run by another department, and the Education Department can be shut down.

Ineffective Spending:

Since the Department’s inception in 1980, the federal government has spent nearly $1.5 trillion on education.
It cost the U.S. $151,000 per student to put the graduating class of 2009 through public school; adjusted for inflation, that is nearly three times the amount we spent on the graduating class of 1970.
Despite this outrageous spending, education outcomes have either stagnated or declined. The nation’s report card, first administered in 1992, shows that the disparity between white and black 12th grade reading scores has increased – showing African American students half a grade further behind their peers, and totaling a nearly three grade-level difference."

We know the way forward. We know that this way will work. We must put stupid party politics to the side and move toward a better and more free future. Ted Cruz is the only candidate in this race that has the correct plans, the temperament, the knowledge and the lack of fear to expend political capital to make good on his campaign promises. We must stand together and be heard. America is too valuable to entrust her leadership to unprincipled progressive nationalism or socialism.

Groupthink

Groupthink. This is the commonly found definition for this term:  Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon that occurs within a group of people, in which the desire for harmony or conformity in the group results in an irrational or dysfunctional decision-making outcome. Group members try to minimize conflict and reach a consensus decision without critical evaluation of alternative viewpoints, by actively suppressing dissenting viewpoints, and by isolating themselves from outside influences.

Groupthink requires individuals to avoid raising...alternative solutions, and there is loss of individual creativity, uniqueness and independent thinking. The dysfunctional group dynamics of the "ingroup" produces an "illusion of invulnerability" (an inflated certainty that the right decision has been made). Thus the "ingroup" significantly overrates its own abilities in decision-making, and significantly underrates the abilities of its opponents (the "outgroup"). Furthermore, groupthink can produce dehumanizing actions against the "outgroup".

If this doesn't describe what has happened with regards to the campaign of one Donald J. Trump, I don't know what does. They have replaced faith in God and common decency with a groupthink cult following of one specific man. To be clear, no one man can make America great. America was made great by God's providential hand because Americans, from the founding, recognized God's leadership in all that was good. 

Before you say to me, "Hey, you are Christian and you encourage groupthink", know this; God encourages each of us to develop our natural gifts, through His word, and to be our own person while following his Son. We are given free will and are not instructed to be all the same. Principles are not the same as a cult. Following the one true God and believing on His Son, Jesus, is the highest calling that any person undertakes. No man can save us from hell and no man can grant us admission to heaven. That debt has be settled. 

After what the Combed Over One has done in the past two weeks, this groupthink cult has crystallized itself. While a few in the Trump camp have jumped ship or questioned his motives, the vast majority of his indoctrinated followers haven't. When talking to these people in person, I seriously question each person's individual sanity. I have yet to find a Trump cultist who has been able to make a coherent argument on why they support the man. They spout platitudes like, "He'll build a wall and make Mexico pay for it", "He'll run the country like a business", "He's not a politician", "He's self funding", "He'll hire the best people", "He'll make America great again", etc. There are a few Trumpists that are members of the cult and they can be reached and pulled away. They are the people that haven't seen any better. Once they are shown, their eyes are opened. Those are few and far between.

The vast majority of the Trumpkins are not fully coherent. They have felt marginalized. I understand this part. The part where the disconnect happens is their solution for their feelings of marginalization. Feelings are never valid for making decisions. Prayerful discernment is needed for making decisions. These cultists have projected their own perceived or real inadequacies on a man and that is a recipe for complete and utter disaster. Trumpkins are not students of history. If they were, they'd see visions 2008 Barack Obama, several failed campaigns of William Jennings Bryan, and if they were to delve deeply, shades of Benito Mussolini would start to bubble to the surface. 

Nationalism, which has been what people like quasi-conservatives like Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity have called what Trump has been pedaling, is nothing more than an inward lurch of an all powerful big government. Nationalist movements seek to isolate in order to consolidate their power in the centers of government and then typically, once that is done, they lash out at those forces outside the borders of the nationalist state that their "leader" sees as the aggressors. Europe in the late 1930's comes to mind. Populist Nationalism is nothing more than fascism wrapped in the flag and is the result of weak minded groupthink. The people that back a nationalist leader feel inadequate and are unprepared to be left alone to fend for themselves by government. They are little different from the socialists and communists and only differ in that they see their country as their God. Socialists and communists reject all theories of superiority except that of the nameless, faceless state.  

American Exceptionalism, on the other hand, recognizes the fact that our country was founded by men, guided by divine providence and a belief in Almighty God. Our founding documents were inspired by God and written by godly men. We are no different in our flesh and blood from any other group of people on the earth. The reason we are different is a reliance on divine providence and the fact that rights come from God and not from man. If rights were derived from man, man can then take those rights away and those rights are nothing more than privileges. This is a wholly different ideology than nationalism. Alexis de Tocqueville was the first person to coin this term. The only reason government has to exist is to protect those rights which are inherent and from our Creator. 

The country is on a precipice right now. Do we lurch toward totalitarian fascism in one Donald Trump, socialism in Bernie Sanders, veiled socialism in Hillary Clinton, or American Exceptionalism and Constitutional government in Ted Cruz. I know where I stand. I stand with Ted Cruz. 

I don't support Ted Cruz because I think he is nice guy(he actually is) or because he's flashy(he isn't). I support him because he is a defender of the principles that made the United States of America the shining city on a hill. We are the last, best hope for mankind. As Rafael Cruz, Ted's dad, is fond of saying, if we lose freedom here, where do we have to go?

I invite you to read history. Don't let yourself be an uninformed voter. It may not be all your fault. Schools stink(putting it mildly) at informing people about history, mostly from a willful standpoint, but that's for another post. After all, if we don't know history, we are doomed to repeat it. God's favor and the ability to learn from our past mistakes are what separate us from animals. Let us not forget that.
