Choose Victory Over Victimhood

Personality over principle…that’s where a large swath of the electorate has landed on the not as far left side of American politics. I see cracks in the veneer of this movement, but it needs to be ripped from the American body politic to truly be able to move forward. Because my nature is to not join movements of people I find no common cause with, I haven’t saddled up to this personality over principle garbage. Let me explain.

Since the escalator ride in 2015 that acted as a lobotomy for many Americans, I’ve seen a slide toward a different kind of currency being made valuable on what I thought was the political right. That currency is victimhood. I see people hitching their souls to a man in whom they place all of their aspirations. If they aspire to be victims, this man is their gateway to the new (slightly) right grift.

I saw through this vacuous movement in 2015 and 2016. I saw through this movement during the time of the new Nebuchadnezzar figure in the White House. I saw through the victimhood grift when he left office in shame, a broken covid tyrant caught up in a mail ballot mess of his own funding by way of the CARES Act. Unlike most on the ‘right?’ side of the political spectrum, I wasn’t seduced by the functionally Godless new progressive populism filth that has so pervaded a portion of the electorate. When a certain failed politician throws God into his teleprompter reading sessions, I want to vomit. God will not be mocked.

Instead of a movement oriented on things that are timeless, like truth, hard work, integrity, charity, and honesty, we’ve been enmeshed in a overgrown web of discontentment, hatred, spite, and contempt for all that is good and true. This new not so left movement sees themselves in the culturally degenerate figure they lift up as their political savior. This figure has never been faithful to his family or to his employees. They see that as a positive as it requires no introspection, no repentance, and no humility. As a nation, we used to value men who could admit when they were wrong and we lifted them up when they fixed that wrong. That is now seen as a sign of weakness.

As the 2024 Iowa caucus draws near, I take heart in being part of a campaign that is the exact opposite in disposition to the failed former executive’s campaign. The staff members on my team aren’t degenerate reprobates, but instead they’re serious and mission focused individuals, set on helping the best elected executive in the country in his effort to help steer this country away from the precipice we’re teetering on at this present time. 

Right now, we have a massive chance to make effectual change in this country. That would necessarily mean we would discard the rank progressive populism taking over a certain segment of the American right. We need to trade that unprincipled mess in for sane, liberty minded, anti corporatist focused, small government conservatism. 

There is precisely one man running with the policy and personnel chops who could bring about the change we need. Ron DeSantis is that man. He’s also the first candidate in generations who you could point your children toward and say that he and his family could be real roll models for what America needs to strive toward. Decent, morally upright family life is almost foreign in our country, but that is what Ron has. Casey DeSantis would be the very best First Lady in our history, in my opinion. I don’t say that just because I know her, either. I say that because she’s her husband’s best advocate and his first sounding board. That gives me great comfort. Their three little ones are pretty great, too.

I Watched the Whole GOP Debate. Here Are My Thoughts.

This is going to be a bit of a stream of consciousness exercise. I am tired of the media and the Washington DC cartel trying to pick our presidential candidates for us. I rant and rave about this because it is important. Our country has been sliding toward ruin under both Republican and Democrat leadership. Outside of one 8 year presidential term from 1981 until 1989, every single president since John F. Kennedy was assassinated has been about managing the decline of the greatest country in the world. Without Ronald Reagan's leadership, who knows how bad off we'd be. He ushered in the only true growth in the American economy in the last 40 years. He was given much worse than any president in recent history and was able to right the ship.

I watched every minute of the Republican debate on Wednesday, September 16th. I was amazed at the lack of time give to some of the strongest candidates on the stage. I'm going to try to go over what my thoughts on all of the people on the stage were. We'll start from stage right to stage left.

Rand Paul:
I really want to like Rand. I do. He just comes of as too out there. I love most of his domestic agenda issues and his liberty driven attitude but I think he may be too naive in terms of foreign policy. He is also a disjointed speaker and speaks in too many anecdotes. I think we need a stronger voice for our country on the world stage. He comes off as angry for the sake of being angry. We need a happy warrior. All this being said, I would vote for him if he was our party's nominee.

Mike Huckabee:
I love Mike's passion for his faith but I think he sees government as the answer to too many of our problems. I like his tax plan but I hate that he wants to use the government to shape thoughts and ways of living. That's not to say that religious liberty doesn't need defending, but my defense of religious liberty would more less government, not more.  His record in Arkansas is also one of a moderate on fiscal issues and we can't have another big domestic spending president. I would vote for him if he was the nominee.

Marco Rubio:
I want to be able to support Marco because I like most of his foreign policy ideas. The thing that puts a burr in my saddle about Rubio was his willingness to surrender to the DC cartel on immigration and border issues. He sold his constituents out when he got to the Senate, all in the effort to curry favor with the leadership of the DC cartel. He made good points on many issues and he would be better than a blatant commie like Komrade Sanders or Monica's ex boyfriend's wife. I would vote for him if he was our nominee.

Ben Carson:
Dr. Carson is a very inspiring man. If I had to choose one person on that stage to sit and learn more about, he would be that man. His career in medicine is flat out legendary. He was THE preeminent pediatric neurosurgeon in the world while he was practicing. Here's where the "but" comes in. I don't think he has the temperament to lead the most powerful country in the world. With all of the damage done by the current leadership regime, we need someone with grand ideas of empowering the American people on his first day in office. There can't be any on the job training when taking the reigns on January, 20th 2017. We need a Constitutional leader. Again, if he were to win the nomination, I would support him.

Donald Trump:
While I like what the Donald has done to help break down the politically correct walls around presidential politics, I think his campaign is a giant dumpster fire. Frankly, he is leading people on with his "We'll be so great, we'll be so strong, you'll get tired of winning" line of horse manure. Government must be reigned in. He speaks of no such thing. He has held more positions on more issues that there are issues to have positions on. I can tell you that I have never(not once, EVER) identified as or with the Democrat party. He, understandably, has played both ends against the middle in the course of his business career because the current system tends to dictate being two faced with local and state government officials. Great for a real estate tycoon. Not so spiffy when it comes to running the free world. I want to know that a president is going to follow the constitution when acting. Congress must be the body to write law. We've had enough of the Executive branch making everything up as they go along. To be truthful, I would really have a hard time voting for Mr. Trump if he is the nominee of the Republican party. Who knows what we would get? Would I vote for a Democrat? NO. Would I write in a can of Coors Banquet? Maybe.

Jeb Bush:
Jeb, or Yeb, to his friends, is a candidate that I would not support if he was our nominee. His positions on immigration and common core preclude me from supporting him. He is everything that is bad about his brother and dad and very little of the good. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if we want someone to manage the decline of the country, a Democrat will get it over a lot quicker. Jeb Bush cannot be our nominee.

Scott Walker:
I like Governor Walker. I think he is a decent man. I like his results in Wisconsin. I don't like his pandering to the corn lobby when he spoke to the over subsidized farmers in Iowa earlier this year. He tends to evolve on issues after having his position called into question. To his credit, more of his evolution has occurred in the right direction. I love his fighting spirit and I think he would be a decent president. His stand against the government union thugs in Wisconsin is one of the most admirable things done by any governor in the United States in a long time. I would vote for Governor Walker if he was the nominee.

Carly Fiorina:
After much thought and study, I have come to the conclusion that Carly Fiorina a less offensive version of Donald Trump in a skirt of pantsuit. While she has a great command of the issues, I question her sincerity on every issue she speaks about. She has praised Hillary Rodham Rodham(Clinton) in the past. She was a huge proponent of John McCain (possibly the worst presidential candidate in a half century). After an in depth study, I've come to the conclusion that sh is a grifter. She is the only other candidate, other than Donald Trump to have been divorced and frankly, she discarded her first husband like yesterday's trash. She has a mistaken and less than Constitutional view of many issues including the 14th Amendment, insofar as her position on immigration and birthright citizenship goes. Would I support her as our nominee? Maybe.

John Kasich:
Ugh...Even writing about this mealy mouthed squish makes my head hurt. John Kasich is THE WORST Republican running for president. He is a politician's politician. He loves government and loves spending other peoples' money in order to be "compassionate". Vomit. No other candidate makes me want to stab myself in the ear when he speaks like the son of the mailman does. His positions on the Iran Deal, Common Core, Obamacare/Medicaid expansion, Immigration and almost everything else make me sick. I would not vote for a presidential candidate, outside of maybe the Coors Banquet can write in, if he were our nominee. I would also drop my Republican party affiliation if he were to win the Republican nomination. Only one person running makes Jeb Bush look decent and it is John Kasich. Ohio can keep him.

Chris Christie:
Krispy Kreme (did I say that, what do the kids say...sorry, not sorry) Christie is an interesting case study in establishment politicians. He sounds great in many sound bites. He is quick witted. He is also governor of one of the most over regulated and over taxed states in the Union and he has an absolutely crazy leftist state legislature to deal with. On the other hand, he has done little to combat those nut ball leftists in the state house in Trenton. I think he would be a good Secretary of State but he is weak on issues of liberty. He, like Governor Huckabee, defers to government too much. His little guy, middle class adovcate schtick sounds good but he has little to show for it. Would he be better that a Democrat? Yes, but only marginally. Would I vote for him? Probably with a clothes pin on my nose.

You may think I left someone out. I did not. Jake Tapper didn't want to give this man a chance talk. If you watch the Q&A session at the Heritage Action Presidential Forum from September 18th, you'll see why. This man is honest and is the most consistent and Constitutional candidate running. If you've read my writing, you'll know who I'm referring to. That man is Ted Cruz.

Ted Cruz:
Read his resume. This man puts the fear of God in the Washington Cartel because he doesn't play nice with them. While Jake Tapper tried to shut him out, every answer he gave during the debate was spot on and when Jeb Bush tried to tangle with him on the issue of Supreme Court Justices, he showed why he is the most qualified to lead this country. Outside of keeping this country safe, the appointment of Supreme Court Justices will be the biggest task for the next leader of our country.
You might ask about compromising and getting things done in DC. I don't want someone to compromise. I want someone to win, not by compromising, but by showing Americans that we can and will do better. Ted Cruz is joyful in his defense of liberty and the principles that made our country the greatest ever to exist. I want to bludgeon our political opponents and make it hard for them to do the wrong thing, whether that be the establishment GOP squishes or the commies on the left side of the aisle.
Ted Cruz is right on education, national defense and how to deal with radical Islamic terrorism, immigration, healthcare reform, and all issues that deal with restoring liberty and Constitutional governance to the swamp that is Washington DC.
After having the opportunity to attend the Senator's Rally for Religious Liberty, I was more convinced that ever that he is a once in a generation candidate. I've seen him interact with everyday folks, up close. I've seen him introduce his daughters to other kids. I've seen the way his daughters run to him when they see him. He is a good and decent man. I've never had the chance to vote for a true conservative until now. Nobody, for that matter, has since 1984.
Another thing that makes this decision easier is who is supporting Senator Cruz. A SuperPAC led by David Barton of Wallbuilders is supporting the Senator. Gun Owners of America has already endorsed him. Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center has endorsed him. With Rick Perry dropping out, I also expect the full force of the Texas conservative machine, led by the amazing Greg Abbott, to be behind the Senator.
Finally, I can tell that Ted Cruz is a man of his word. He has taken all the slings and arrows that the statists in DC have thrown at him and still stands for Americans of every stripe. He doesn't pander to groups or play identity politics. He talks to individuals. The individual is the only minority that matters in a Constitutional Republic.

I'm here to say that I have signed my commitment card to volunteer with the #CruzToVictory campaign. I invite all of you to do the research and stand behind a candidate that you can support. I hope that candidate is Senator Cruz.

Why Do So Many People Support Trump? No Seriously, Why?

This subject probably will piss off the Trump humpers in the crowd, but it needs to be brought up. I see the mechanism he uses on the media and it falls flat with me. He goes after those members of the media that challenge his greatness. Why this is seen as strength, I do not know. Rather than answer the question in a way that makes him look good and shows that he is above the media, he gets in the gutter and slings mud right back. I see how some might find that attractive.

Let us compare and contrast here. Trump, who may have had a legitimate beef with the Fox News debate moderators (more like game show hosts, but I digress), decided to call names and make the media the story. Instead, he could have shown the public why he was right and made the media look like fools all at the same time. Rather than question the question at the time it was being asked, he acted like a petulant child and threw tantrums. The same can be said for the Donald's interview with Hugh Hewitt this week. He looked like a total fool. He could have thanked Hugh for letting him know where he needed to brush up on his knowledge of ISIS, the Arab-Israel conflict and Iran and declined to answer the questions until he had the right answer, which is what is taught to good salespeople. Instead, he made himself act like a fool only to later Tweet out an obnoxious statement about how bad Hewitt's ratings were and that he was third rate. 

Why would a very low ratings radio talk show host like Hugh Hewitt be doing the next debate on @CNN. He is just a 3rd rate "gotcha" guy!

He could have chosen to be the bigger man but instead he chose to be the child in the cereal aisle at the grocery store, throwing a fit until he got his way.

Contrast this to how Ted Cruz handles the media. He never lets the media drive the conversation with leftist drivel and the so-called "gotcha" questions. He told Megyn Kelly this:

"Megyn, I'm not playing the game. Megyn, I get that that's the question you want to ask. That's also the question every mainstream-media liberal journalist wants to ask."

When she asked Cruz if her questions was unfair, Cruz summed it up this way:

"It is a distraction from how we actually solve the problem. It's also the question that Barack Obama wants to focus on."

Cruz got right back to where his focus was. He didn't let the the media change his angle of attack. Trump, while deriding the media, would be nothing without it. His candidacy is like the bad accident on the freeway where all the people, even knowing it is ugly, just have to look, The media is covering the car accident in the "if it bleeds, it leads" method of news delivery. 

Now, Contrast this to the Cruz campaign. He consistently attracts large crowds where ever he goes. He is knowledgeable on every subject he is asked about. He never lets the drive by media drive his agenda. Even when stupid, drooling leftist dolts, like Ellen Page or some dumb college chick in New Hampshire try to trip him up, he comes away smelling like a rose. He also forms sentences without using the words "really", "yuge"(for you non-Trump Humpers, that "huge" in Trumpeese), "so rich", and "I". I know Trump recently started using the word "we" when speaking of his campaign instead of "I", but he still refers to himself much more than any sane human should, not to mention the third person excrement. Trump will say that his donations to many different candidates were just political grease to get his projects approved. While that may be the case, if he truly thought as little of the current system of government, why hasn't he been working to change it for years? He is like a more business savvy version of Barack Obama, with slightly fewer socialist tendencies. We've had a narcissist in the White House for almost seven years, we don't need another one. 

I know what I'm saying is making the irrational Trump lovers mad, but tough love is called for. We need to defeat the establishment. If the establishment was really that afraid of the Donald, do you think that he would be getting as much favorable coverage as he is? Think about it. All they are using him for is a ratings booster. Refer to my earlier comparison of a car wreck. The establishment, that Ted Cruz has so accurately termed the Washington Cartel, is deathly afraid of a man who won't compromise his principles in effort to just "get things done". Getting things done for the sake of saying you did something is foolish. Ted Cruz scares every person that is content to inhabit the swamp that is our federal government. He is truly the man to drain that swamp and start government back toward being the smaller, less intrusive entity that it was meant to be when our founders drew it up.

Rather than waste our time and energy on a candidate that is popular just because he is rich and he likes to call people names after any perceived slight, why not support the candidate that actually knows what we are fighting for. We are fighting to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic.There are plenty of both the domestic and foreign enemies knocking at the gate right now, why not choose the man that knows who those enemies are and how, within the confines of the Constitution of the United States, to defeat them. Choose the man who uses the Constitution as his touchstone. Choose Ted Cruz.

Throw the Political Operatives Out!

I am convinced that the reason our political process is broken is our politicians rely on their operatives to form and shape their policies and arguments rather than hiring staff that will do the work of advancing their own agenda and helping to get out their unique message.

In discussing these things with a former campaign operative, it is quite clear that that someone, whom, if she weren't in politics, would be a patriot, instead makes excuses for why our country is the way that it is and the current political system that encourages cronyism and influence pedaling is the only framework that can be used. This way of thinking is why we are where we are.

While I distrust Donald Trump and think he is a Constitutional lightweight and a moral relativist, his rise is proof that the political establishment model is one giant load of steaming elephant or jackass dung(pick your party). His followers tend to be angry and for that, I don't blame them. In several recent Republican polls, political outsiders seem to be winning the day. In years past, where the Drive By Media, to use Rush Limbaugh's term, were responsible for every narrative and misinformation stream, the political operatives could easily craft a message that would be perceived by the media kingmakers as palatable. That is no longer the case. There are many more forms of obtaining information now, for the better. Just look at Fox News and their prime time rates for the week after the Republican Debate Reality Show. They have lost between 250,000 and 500,000 viewers for their most watched prime time broadcasts because people saw their cartoonish debate format last week as being one-sided or slanted. While not a huge drop, it was noticeable. Heck, those numbers would equal many PMSNBC or CNN ratings totals for any given hour of leftist television.

Another case for my argument is the rise of that old and crazy curmudgeon of a socialist, Bernie "I've never met a tax I didn't like" Sanders. A current poll, by the Boston Herald, shows Sanders with a now significant lead, well outside the margin of error, in New Hampshire. This goes to show that even with insane leftist nutbags, the political operatives are totally and completely wrong. Now, having a candidate, in Hillary Clinton, that is subject to a federal investigation on whether she has lied under oath and destroyed classified information, might be a part of this swing but it isn't all of it. Retail politics is about appealing to the grassroots of your base. This is something that the old commie, Sanders, seems to understand. Hillary's canned speeches in front of hand selected small groups, avoidance of the media and general perception of being a rotten old hag has proven to be a liability for her. Her operatives are the ones out responding to questions while she remains tucked away as to do less damage to her already horrible public persona. The same could be said for the Republican Establishment darling, Jeb Bush.

Jeb Bush, while making speeches that sound canned and forced, has made absolutely no headway in the grassroots circles. He is relying on wealthy, country club, chamber of commerce types to fund his campaign of mediocrity and love of the Washington, DC status quo. Jeb Bush squirms when he is asked pointed questions that don't fit his talking points on why illegal immigration is an act of love or why common core is so nifty, still has shown a remarkable ability to stay in the media spotlight while acquiring absolutely zero grassroots enthusiasm because the leftist media, who hate Republicans(especially principled conservative ones), seem it right  and proper to try to force this awful excuse of a presidential candidate on the American electorate. No true conservative would vote for this mealy mouthed squish.

What all of this has taught me is my initial endorsement of Senator Ted Cruz, shortly after his campaign announcement in March of this year, was the right choice. He connects with people personally when he is on the trail. He believes in his message and he doesn't say things he doesn't believe just to curry favor with the political operatives that run Washington DC. I find his candor and honesty to be refreshing. Saying things to get elected, only to change your tune once in office, has been a huge problem for elected officials. Cruz has dubbed these people (Bush, Kasich, Christie, Rubio, Pataki, Graham, Huckabee, and likely, Trump) campaign conservatives. They tout their conservative, grassroots credentials only to forget most of those credentials once in office, all the while doing only enough to show that they are a bit different from the crazies on the left side of the aisle. Cruz has correctly identified these types as members of the Washington Cartel, a group more concerned with power and keeping that power than any other goal. The constituents of the Washington Cartel are not those that mistakenly voted for them. No, the Cartel's constituents are the large corporate interests that seek to snuff out competition and lobbyists for various and multiple interest groups that think it is the job of government to control outcomes in the country. Cruz, who has run a good campaign and Rand Paul, who, on the other hand, has run an awful campaign, are really the only two in the race that get it.

In the coming weeks, I think you will see the field start to winnow itself a bit. I believe that Rick Perry, who doesn't have any paid staffers on his team now and other candidates like Rick Santorum, Jim Gilmore, and likely, Rand Paul, will drop out. I believe most of that support will go to Ted Cruz. Once that happens, I think that the Donald's doublespeak and wishy washy social stances will start to wear thin with true conservatives and you will see some of his support also gravitate toward Cruz. Cruz's national network is now larger than any other candidate in the grassroots areas. A big indicator will also take place next week when Cruz has his rally for religious liberty in Des Moines, IA. If the turn out for that event is as large as expected, I think you could see a big spike with those voters that hold their first, First Amendment right so dear.

This campaign will mark a decision on whether our country continues its leftward slide(quickly, with a Democrat or just bit more slowly, with an establishment Republican) or we return to our constitutional principles. Join me in making sure that the latter comes true.
