The Ted Cruz I Know

The most principled man to run for president in my lifetime

As a part of a the Ted Cruz Campaign in Iowa, I've had access to meetings and conferences and events that even most politically involved Iowans aren't privy to. I've also been to Iowa retail political meet and greets with Senator Cruz. I think there is a huge misconception nationally about the kind of man and the kind of candidate that Senator Cruz is. I'm here to set that record straight with information about my own experiences and what I hear from others that have had the distinct pleasure of meeting the most principled man to run for president in a generation.



This first time I saw Senator Ted Cruz was at a large event, the Iowa Rally for Religious Liberty, that his campaign put on. I met him briefly and saw him interact with others with a grace and humility rarely seen in any person and almost never seen in DC politico types. I filled out a commitment card that night. Shortly thereafter I received the call to be a part of a team that I have grown to respect and care for.

Meetings with Senator Cruz away from the media are light hearted and fun. He knows when to be serious but I think he takes the "spoonful of sugar" adage to heart. He uses humor to get his points across when appropriate. He also can be deadly serious. I appreciate someone who doesn't have to have a stage persona when he's in front of the camera. Ted Cruz is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. If you want a glimpse into the more light-hearted Senator Cruz is, watch below.



Conversely, when talking about his faith, you can tell that he is very well settled in who he is and that it isn't his will, but God's will that will reign. He knows that he is saved and he also knows that he isn't perfect. At the Presidential Family Forum in Des Moines on Friday, November 20th, Moderator Frank Luntz asked Ted a question that brought forth an answer that brought the room full of 1800 people to a hushed reverence. He was so honest that we were given a glimpse of his soul. He is a strong man of faith and for that, I am thankful.



The other part of Senator Cruz's character that shines through is his love for people. He is the only candidate that I've ever seen that must always be told that it is time to go. His "body man", Bruce Redden, can always be seen having to grab him by the shirt when they have to go to the next event. Ted would be happy taking questions from people and just greeting them for hours on end. He always takes photos with people and makes it a point to make children, being brought along by their parents to a political event, feel welcome. No other candidate does this with the comfort and total ease that Ted Cruz does.



I'm sure you've also heard the media quip about Ted Cruz being rehearsed. I've never heard him give the same exact stump speech twice. Now, he does have certain phrases that he uses to convey importance but he always changes it up. He is so comfortable speaking to a crowd that he can come off as rehearsed when in reality, he's just the smartest guy in the room on nearly any issue. An exchange with Frank Luntz at this same forum went something like this(I'm paraphrasing because I don't have an audiographic memory). "Ted, are those the exact words President Obama used?" Followed by an exact recitation of a quote Obama had made earlier in the week. He frames an argument better than any person I've ever met. Watch how Ted Cruz handles hecklers and people that don't agree with him.

I urge you to not just believe me, but to do your own research. You'll find that what I say here is not only true, but it is just a small portion of what there is to know about Ted Cruz. If he is in your town, do not miss the opportunity to hear him speak and meet him up close and in person. Your perception of what a leader can be will be changed. He is the first candidate that I have been truly honored to support. In my adult life, I've never been able to say that about any other presidential candidate.
Ted Cruz always involves children in his campaigning. He knows they are the future.



Every time I see Senator Cruz, he makes a point of coming up to me and thanking me for what I do for the campaign. He does this with all of his supporters. He remembers people and he knows who he is working for. He is beholden to those people that vote for him and those people that put their life on hold to help him in his campaign to break the Washington Cartel. Those of us that make up the affectionately named the #CruzCrew will crawl across broken glass with knives between our teeth, to borrow a phrase from Ted, to see he gets across the finish line with the Republican nomination and then wins the general election next November. We are over 100,000 strong nationwide.

If you aren't committed the cause of liberty yet and you aren't ready to support Ted Cruz for 2016, I urge you to do your due diligence and pray on it. I'm sure you will see that this man is worthy of your support. If you have already decided that Ted is your guy, join us and help him become the next President of the United States of America.

Aristocracy Vs. Meritocracy

Hillary Rodham Clinton. Whether you know little or know much about politics and governance, you most likely know her name. She is most famous for being the wife of a philandering husband who happened to be the 42nd President of the United States. That anyone would consider voting for the aforementioned Mrs Clinton for the highest office in our land says much about the state of politics in this country. I am writing this as a bit of a thought experiment on her qualifications to be the commander in chief of the greatest country in the world. Follow along as I explore those qualifications.

First qualification: Mrs Clinton was Secretary of State during the current regime's first term. She was an abject failure. I needn't write more but I will expound. She promised a reset with Vladimir Putin and Russia. Russia is rattling its sabre louder than any time since the early 1980's. Some of that can be blamed on the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue but she was the person charged with carrying out his plans overseas. If she was so smart, why didn't she help the Obama regime figure out a better strategy in Russia? While she was Secretary of State, the Russians became emboldened. They resumed flying Bear bombers closer to US and allied NATO territories. They mobilized and rolled into the Crimea, using the excuse of protecting ethnic Russians. Putin's reasoning sounds a lot like Adolph Hitler's excuse for invading Eastern Europe in 1939.  Putin backed separatists have fomented civil unrest in the government of Ukraine. They have even threatened to use nuclear weapons if they were pushed back against by NATO. Some reset.

Second qualification: Mrs Clinton's charity(an IRS tax exempt 501(c)(3) non profit organization), the Clinton Foundation/Clinton Global Initiative, raised millions and millions of dollars while she was Secretary of State. Much of that money came from overseas donations. Much of that overseas money came from countries with less than stellar human rights records. The Wall Street Journal, in an article published on February 18th, 2015, reported that the Clinton Foundation received between $10 million and $25 million from Saudi Arabia, with some of that coming while Mrs Clinton was serving as our Secretary of State. The same article stated that the foundation had received between $1 million and $5 million from the United Arab Emirates. I love the fuzzy numbers. Both of these countries treat women as second class citizens and Saudi Arabia regularly executes people that are found to be gay. I'm not saying that these donations were given as some quid pro quo, but it does reflect poorly when Mrs Clinton is running as a champion of women's rights, all the while trying to stick which ever Republican wins their party's nomination with being the titular head of a phony war on women. Are you scratching your head yet?

Third qualification: Mrs Clinton presided over the US State Department during one of its darkest hours. On September 11th, 2012, a group of radical Muslims laid siege to our consulate in Benghazi, Libya. They just happened to have RPGs and AK47s for fun, if you believe Mrs Clinton. That State Department and Mrs Clinton have never been truly forthcoming on what really happened on that fateful night when the US Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, US Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith and CIA Security contractors Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods were all killed. Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, both former Navy SEALs heroically tried to defend the consulate for hours while receiving no support from the US Military(they were given a stand down order) or State Department. The Ambassador had sent many requests for more security to his superiors, only to be denied. Mrs Clinton, rather infamously, said before a Congressional hearing, "What difference, at this point, does it matter" in a snide and condescending tone, when asked about the reasons behind the attack. Mrs Clinton, as the head of the Department of State in 2012, needs to be held to account for her and her department's dereliction of duty regarding the events leading up to and during the night of September 11th, 2012. The families of Mr Stevens, Mr Smith, Petty Officer 1st Class Doherty(ret) and Senior Chief Petty Officer Woods(ret) deserve, at the very least, this measure of justice.

Fourth qualification: Mrs Clinton enabled the most famous, or some might say infamous, philanderer in United States history. She either looked the other way or helped cover up William Jefferson Clinton's destruction of many women who happened to fall into his zone of influence, so to speak. Most famous of these exploits was Monica Lewinsky. A 20 year old intern at the White House. There are stories that she gave him a good beating in private due to his wandering eye(not to mention other parts) but she never once came out to publicly denounce him or his awful treatment of women. Her treatment of the women Mr Clinton cheated on her with is contrary to everything that the modern feminist, something she claims to be, stands for. She gives new meaning to the term, stand by your man. Doesn't this seem just a little hypocritical to anyone else?

Fifth qualification: Mrs Clinton in just plain dirty. I don't have the space and you don't have all day to read about of the Clinton's scandals but I will list a few. Whitewater, Filegate, Travelgate, Vince Foster, the Clinton Pardon scandal and lying during the Watergate investigation. She was thrown off the Watergate investigation because of it. She also swears that she and Bill were dead broke when they left the White House in January of 2001. So broke they took some of the furnishings from the Presidential Residence(those things weren't theirs to take). When interviewed about this time in her life, she said they had to scrap together funds to make their mortgage payments(plural). Somehow, that doesn't really hold water.

Her final qualification: Mrs Clinton, nee Hillary Rodham, is a disciple of one Saul Alinsky, of Rules for Radicals fame. She wrote a sycophantic letter to Mr Alinsky in 1971 espousing her desire to be a community organizer and far left advocate. While some people change over time, Mrs Clinton does not appear to be one of those changed persons. Do we really want another community organizer with no real successful experience as our President? I think not.

We, as an electorate, need to decide whether we want an aristocracy where just a few are tasked with running this country or whether we will be the meritocracy that we were founded to be. There should be no birthright to our country's leadership. I'm also talking to the Bushies out there. The Democrat party's bench is rather shallow but if Mrs Clinton is the best they have, they need to be soundly defeated. I urge anyone who reads this to look at and listen to everything that every declared and prospective presidential candidate says. Critique every word and action. Vote for someone who knows the greatness of our country and wants to put this giant train back on the right track. Hillary Rodham Clinton is NOT that person.
